Despite earlier claims, newer research has been unable to identify a connection between drinking coffee and serious health risks. On the contrary, regular coffee consumption has been linked to decreased mortality, while found health benefits have included a lower risk of Parkinson’s disease, liver cancer, and type 2 diabetes. This is due to the natural blend of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants found in coffee beans. Further research suggests drinking coffee may help people fight depression and improve cognitive functions.

While coffee isn’t a high-risk behavior like smoking or physical inactivity – moderation is essential! High consumption can have various negative effects, for example, an increase in the level of cholesterol, (especially noted in those drinking unfiltered coffee), or adrenal exhaustion.

The suggested amount is one or two cups a day. And if you’re not opposed to a little cream and sugar, you better be ready for extra calories and fat. Often people who drink coffee prior to mental or physical activity feel that their focus is sharpened and their memory boosted. Consumed properly, coffee can be a wonderful boost to a productive and healthy lifestyle.
